As reported earlier, big hit manga "DEATH NOTE" (written by Ohba Tsugumi, illustrated by Obata Takeshi), serialized on Weekly Shonen Jump from 2003~2006, is going to be released as a TV drama for the first time, and the main cast members for the drama adaptation were recently revealed.
For this drama adaptation, the protagonist "Yagami Light" will be played by Kubota Masataka, while "L," the detective that confronts Light, will be played by Yamazaki Kento, and "N (Near)" which is the character to appear in the live-action adaptation for the first time, will be played by Yuki Mio.
Apparently, the "DEATH NOTE" drama adds its own story and setting which are different from the original manga, as it depicts "hidden genius VS a born genius VS the risk factor."
Yagami Light was an ordinary college student, but when he gets a reaper's notebook called "death note" which can kill people whose name is written in it, his warped sense of justice and prodigious intelligence that were hidden inside of him, arise, and it turns him into a dark hero "Kira" that eliminates criminals using the "death note" to create a world without evil people.
His rival "L" who has the aura that keeps off others, is a complete rationalist, and he smashes Light's tactics completely. While the two holding the battles of the minds, there is a mysterious person "Near" that's staring at them calmly...
Upcoming TV drama "DEATH NOTE" will air on NTV starting in July.
