Scudetto challengers Roma will be hoping to make inroads into Inter抯 four-point lead at the top of the table when they welcome Atalanta to the Stadio Olimpico. The Orobici started the campaign confidently, but have now dropped down to eighth after failing to win in their last three matches.
However, boss Stefano Colantuono welcomes back Adriano, Massimo Donati, Cristiano Doni and Riccardo Zampagna after suspension. Donati and Doni return to the starting XI in place of Antonino Bernardini and Andrea Soncin, with the other two returnees settling for a place on the bench. Otherwise the tactician is tipped to keep faith with the rest of the side which fell to a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to struggling Torino.
With doubts surrounding both his fitness and form at the start of the season, Francesco Totti has answered all of his critics with a stunning November. His wonder goal against Sampdoria, which was Marco Van Basten-esque, was his seventh of the campaign, proving once and for all that he is more than capable of playing as the lone striker in Luciano Spalletti抯 attacking line-up.
The form of the skipper means that Vincenzo Montella and Mirko Vucinic will remain on the bench yet again. Indeed, as much due to injury problems as the form of his first-choice players, Spalletti is likely to make just once change to his side. Out comes Marco Cassetti, so Christian Panucci can revert back to his usual right-back role, with Max Tonetto coming into the side on the opposite flank.
Having won their last five matches, including a 7-0 drubbing of Catania, there抯 no doubt that Roma will fancy their chances against Atalanta. Given that the Bergamo outfit score and ship goals for fun, combined with the Giallorossi抯 status as the League抯 top scorers, we should see the net bulge a fair few times. And with Totti in this form, a memorable strike is always just around the corner.

Fulham Linked With Montella Swoop
Fulham have been linked with a January swoop for Italian striker Vincenzo Montella, who has been seeing little first team action with Roma.
Newspapers have linked the former international with a move to London, although he has also been connected with a move to Serie A rivals AC Milan after apparently falling out with Luciano Spalletti this season.
Montella could give Fulham the lift they require as they attempt to build on what has been a better than expected season in the Premiership, but they remain in danger of being dragged into a relegation dogfight due to their lack of squad depth. |
