At 421 metres tall, Menara Kuala Lumpur Tower is the world's 4th tallest telecommunications tower. Opened in 1996, Menara Kuala Lumpur is not only a telecommunications and broadcasting tower, but also a major tourist attraction with its 360-degree observation deck. The tower is designed to withstand wind pressures of up to 90mph.

I'm rebuilding my Malaysia galleries from my 2003 visit. I've found some new photos that have not been published before so I've bundled them with some other shots for this thread. Malaysia was quite an interesting experience. The people speak perfect English and Kuala Lumpur is extremely clean and safe. The only down side for my visit was the capital controls, which meant my leftover ringgit couldn't be readily exchanged to other currencies. I guess I'll save those for my next visit.

Rasanya memang betul sebab aku ada ada klien tinggal kat sana. Tahun 80an (kalau tak silap) dia bg tau aku area Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil tu tempat pelupusan sampah. Masa tu tak ada orang berminat nak beli rumah kat situ. Developernya i.e. Petaling Garden S.B bagi diskaun lagi utk menarik minat pembeli. Sebabnya waktu pagi/malam atau ketika berangin, baunya menusuk hidung sampai tak sanggup nak tinggal kat situ. Kalau lalat ke langau ke tak yah cakap lah..

Tak pasti pulak bila tempat pelupusan tu di tutup. Tapi menurut klien aku Sri Petaling tu memang nostalgia. Jangan tak tau rumah single storey kat situ sekarang RM2450K! Belum lagi yang lain.

Once a popular landmark of Kuala Lumpur, the Pekeliling Flats
will be demolished by the end of the year.



EVER since the move to Sri Rampai Flats began in May, the Pekililing Flats is almost devoid of life, especially in Blocks A and B.

Residents have left their empty homes behind to dust, rubbish, stray cats and even rats.

But, life at the blocks opposite the vacated ones still goes on as it has for decades.

Children play around their compounds as mothers run errands at their homes and the men help to carry groceries from nearby shops.

They, too, will have to leave their homes once City Hall has issued them with the order soon.

For Mohd Yasin Mohd, a resident of Block E, it will be a sad day when he has to leave the place he has called home for 10 years.

Pekeliling Flats won抰 come down with a bang

THE Pekeliling Flats in Jalan Tun Razak will not be demolished using explosives as the area is surrounded by light rail transit and monorail systems and businesses.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Ruslin Hasan said City Hall would probably disband the structure piece by piece to reduce the environmental impact.

揥e have relocated 4,000 residents from Pekeliling flats to the Taman Seri Rampai flats in Setapak. After they are all relocated, the demolition exercise will be carried out at the end of the year.

揟his (Pekeliling flats) is a massive area and surrounded by Star-LRT and KL Monorail stations. We might break up the structure as the walls are strong and pre-fabricated,
