Sir Alex's Grandson 'Serious' After Car Smash
The step grandson of Manchester Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone emergency surgery and remains in a serious condition after an horrific car crash.
Charlie Ferguson, 10, was injured along with his sister Grace, six, and their mother Nadine Ferguson, 30, yesterday.
The crash happened hours before Manchester Utd's Champions League clash with Arsenal in London.
Nadine, who is separated from Sir Alex's son Peterborough Utd manager Darren, was driving a Vauxhall Corsa when it was in collision with a Ford Fiesta.
The three family members were cut out of the vehicle by firefighters in Trap Street, Lower Withington, Macclesfield, at around 8.25am.
Sir Alex reportedly considered missing out on last night's game at the Emirates to be with the children.
Nadine, 30, was airlifted to Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester following the collision and was said to be in a stable condition this morning.
Grace - who is Darren Ferguson's daughter - was taken to Leighton Hospital in Crewe. The boy - who was born to Nadine before she began a relationship with Darren - was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.
A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: "The boy has undergone surgery and he remains in a serious but stable condition."
Police have not said what injuries the family suffered.
Nadine was separated from Peterborough United boss Darren, 37, in 2006 after four years of marriage.
Last year, he admitted assaulting his wife during a row on the driveway of his parents' home and was fined |

An Arsenal fan hung himself following his team's 4-1 aggregate drubbing by arch-rivals Manchester United in the Champions League semi-final, police said.
Suleiman Alphonso Omondi, a 29-year-old Kenyan living in the capital Nairobi's Embakasi neighbourhood, hanged himself in his Arsenal shirt after the match.
"We were watching the match at Bamba 70 pub, and when Arsenal was defeated, Suleiman just walked out in protest and he was crying," Calvin Otieno, one of his friends, said.
"We didn't know he was going to hang himself until this morning when we received the reports and came here to find his body at the balcony," Otieno said outside the deceased's home.
Arsenal slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, capping a disappointing season for the Gunners who were already out of the Premier League title race early in the season.
