Yesil downs England U19s

Samed Yesil scored twice as Germany U19s beat an England side featuring Raheem Sterling and Adam Morgan on Thursday evening. You can watch his goals below.

The 18-year-old, who signed for Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen last week, was inspired during the 3-1 friendly win.

He found the net after two minutes of each half, and set up the final goal for teammate Sebastian Kerk, before getting a standing ovation as he was subbed on 81 minutes.

Sterling lasted 65 minutes, while Morgan was withdrawn with a quarter of an hour remaining.

Meanwhile, Jonjo Shelvey was also on top form as England U21s prevailed 2-0 in Azerbaijan.

It was his free-kick that set up a glancing header for Steven Caulker to make it 1-0, and the midfielder put the seal on the victory with a well-taken volley late on.

The U21s were skippered by Jordan Henderson for the Euro 2013 qualifier, while Martin Kelly also started.

Shelvey the star as U21s beat Azerbaijan

Jonjo Shelvey scored one and set up another today as England moved within touching distance of the UEFA Under-21 Championship play-offs with victory in Azerbaijan.

Liverpool midfielder Shelvey's first goal for at this level followed Steven Caulker's third to send Stuart Pearce's men five points clear at the top of qualifying Group Eight with one match remaining. That is on Monday against Norway, who needed to win in Belgium in tonight's late kick-off and beat England in Chesterfield in four days' time to deny their rivals a place in next month's two-legged play-offs.

Today's victory was the Young Lions' sixth out of their seven qualifiers and saw Pearce hand a debut to Thomas Ince, son of former England star Paul, on an artificial pitch against opponents England had thrashed 6-0 a year earlier.

And after Javid Imamverdiyev went close for the hosts, in-form Blackpool winger Ince should have stolen the headlines when he screwed Marvin Sordell's cross wide on the turn.

England assumed total control and some delightful football saw Wilfried Zaha bamboozle the Azeri defence and fire into the side netting.

A series of corners then came to nought before Craig Dawson was booked in the 25th minute for exacting retribution on Rizvan Umarov after being caught himself.

But Dawson had the last laugh three minutes later when centre-back partner Caulker powered England ahead, the Tottenham man heading in Shelvey's left-wing free-kick.

Caulker should have made it 2-0 two minutes later when he glanced Ince's far-post cross wide before Azerbaijan goalkeeper Salahat Agayev produced some unconventional heroics to keep the hosts in it.

A goalmouth scramble saw him keep out Martin Kelly's deflected cross and deny Marvin Sordell before Zaha's follow-up was cleared off the line to muted penalty appeals.

Agayev then looked stranded after completely missing a cross but he recovered to produce an astonishing near-post save from Sordell, who looked certain to convert after Danny Rose kept the ball in play.

Caulker saw another header go to waste shortly before half-time and Zaha fired a good chance over shortly after the restart.

Azerbaijan, who had thrown on Orkhan Hasanov at the break, began to get a grip and, after some harmless long shots, they might have levelled on the hour mark when Imamverdiyev curled narrowly high and wide.

Pearce took immediate action by sending on debutant Ben Marshall for Zaha but the hosts continued to push.

Ben Amos - who had looked untroubled filling in for ill goalkeeper Jason Steele - saved from Araz Abdullayev, prompting Connor Wickham's introduction for Sordell.

The second change almost proved inspired as Wickham nodded Martin Kelly's cross wide but it appeared to have the desired effect as England kept their opponents at bay.

Mirhuseyin Seyidov's free-kick was easily claimed by Amos and Azerbaijan went for broke in the final 10 minutes with a double substitution of their own.

But it backfired seven minutes from time as Wickham nodded Caulker's long ball into the path of Shelvey, who volleyed emphatically beyond the onrushing keeper.

Pepsy challenge: Rodgers gives Reina until January to secure his Liverpool future

Spanish keeper has struggled to adapt to the new manager's style and has already dropped a couple of clangers this season.

Pepe Reina has until *January to show Brendan Rodgers he can fit into the new Liverpool and stop the club searching for a rival first-choice goalkeeper.

And Liverpool have moved to try to avoid future transfer deadline disasters by attempting to complete their new recruitment *set-up ahead of schedule.

Goalkeeper Reina has made a disappointing start to the season, making bad errors against Hearts and Arsenal. The Spaniard also looks uncomfortable with Rodgers’ style of encouraging his defenders to pass to and receive the ball from the keeper.

Reina has been a wonderful servant to Liverpool and has often performed heroics since signing for the club from Villarreal for £6m in 2005. But there is a feeling he lacks serious competition from reserves Brad Jones and Alexander Doni.

odgers could look for a promising up-and-coming keeper to put pressure on Reina. But if the 30-year-old does not improve, then he will also consider trying to take his former Swansea keeper, 28-year-old Michel Vorm, to Anfield.

Liverpool are confident they will perform much better in the January *transfer window and will immediately start work on identifying targets.

Rodgers wants the men who will be responsible for finding new talent, Dave Fallows and Barry Hunter, to start work this month.

It had been expected *Fallows and Hunter would not formally join Liverpool from Manchester City until 2013. But, following the botched summer transfer window, the Anfield club are trying to rush their *appointments through.

Fallows will be head of scouting and recruitment. Hunter will be chief scout.

Rodgers said: “Hopefully, this month our scouting team comes together and there will be a lot of great work between now and then, finding the targets that will fit into the way we are going to play going forward.”

mmg elok sgt la tu..

Glove affair: Liverpool plan swoop for young German keeper Marc-Ander ter Stegen

Brendan Rodgers is ready to swoop for young German keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

the Liverpool boss is unhappy with Pepe Reina and may trade the Spaniard in the January transfer window, but he has to find a replacement first.

Ter Stegen, 20, is at Borussia Monchengladbach and only narrowly missed out on Germany’s Euro 2012 squad despite making his debut before the finals.

The tall, commanding youngster has made his name in the Bundesliga and has been watched by both Manchester United and Tottenham in the past – but now the Kop have moved in at the head of the queue.

Rodgers is quickly compiling a dossier on Ter Stegen after deciding that Birmingham’s England rookie Jack Butland is too expensive and, at just 19, too raw for what Liverpool need this season.

yg nih mmg bagus... muda lg plak tu..

Kenny Dalglish mengkritik Brendan Rodgers keatas kesilapan beliau melepaskn Andy Carroll ke West Ham. Dalglish berkata Brendan sepatutnya mempunyai keyakinan keatas kemampuan Andy yg dikatakn mempunyai bkt terpendam.
