MCA Pulau Pinang membangkitkan rasa tak puas hati apabila seorang pelajar berusia 19 tahun yang juga seorang kontraktor diberikan projek bernilai RM1 juta membina bangunan sekolah di negeri itu. Pelajar berkenaan juga dikatakan berjaya mendapat kontrak pembersihan kawasan di Seberang Prai.

GEORGE TOWN: The awarding of a RM1mil project to a 19-year-old part-time college student by the Penang government has become the talk of the town here.

Wanita MCA deputy Tan Cheng Liang secretary-general Tan Cheng Liang claimed that the bumiputra student was awarded the project to construct a double-storey religious school in Batu Maung which has since been completed.

The student was also awarded a cleaning contract by the Seberang Prai Municipal Council. Tan claimed that the project was among 968 worth RM125mil awarded by the state government since 2008 under the open tender system.

She questioned the state government's transparency in awarding the contracts. Only 0.2% of the projects were given to non-bumiputras. Does this mean that there are no Chinese contractors able to meet the standard of a 19-year-old?
Is Chief Guan Eng]Minister Lim Guan Eng saying that the capabilities and competitiveness of the Chinese in Penang have declined so much so that they are unable to compete with other races?

Where is the fairness of DAP so-called multi-racial approach, she asked in a press statement yesterday.
Tan, who is also Penang Wanita MCA head, said Lim抯 claim that the projects were awarded via open tender process contradicted the statement by his political secretary Ng Wei Aik.

Ng said contracts worth RM200,000 and below were directly awarded to bumiputra contractors. Who is telling the truth? she asked.

Earlier, Lim told a press conference that the Malay contractors awarded the contracts were 搗ery competitive?
Denying he was anti-Chinese, Lim said the state government was only anti-corruption.

We dont give contracts to cronies. The Malay contractors have shown they are capable, ?he said.
In a separate statement, Ng said only projects worth more than RM200,000 were open to Malaysians of all races.
Open tenders for projects worth less than RM200,000 are only for the Class F contractors.
He announced this in 2008 and MCA never objected to it.

If Tan wants the Class F contractors who comprise of bumiputras to be abolished, she should ask MCA Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek or the party ministers to raise it with the Cabinet,he said.
When contacted, the student declined to be interviewed.

Several Chinese dailies had reported that the student, identified as Mohamad Nursufi Abdul Wahab, is a Class D contractor while his father is a Class A contractor.

kalo prestasi kompeni ok, why not diberikan kepada budak tu?mesti ada pemberatan kepada kenapa projek nie diberikan dgn budak tu...

ala, byk lagi aku deal dgn PM budak, tapi mak bapak yang the person behind it~

bapak dah ada satu kompeni kelas A, mana blh nak guna nama dia lagi nk bukak kompeni kelas D. nanti PKK tak approved~

hal kecik pun jadi hal bsr~kalo prestasi tak memuaskan, leh terminate..tu pun nak kecoh....org lain stadium dah roboh tak jugak terminate, siap bg kontrak nak bersihkan stadium tu pulak kat kontraktor yang sama (cerita selingan yang berkaitan kontrak dan projek)
