Elon Musk, head of the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), joined President Donald Trump and his Cabinet on Thursday as scrutiny mounts over his aggressive cost-cutting policies.

His radical restructuring efforts, which have led to mass layoffs and severe budget reductions, have been met with fierce resistance.

Musk, also a senior adviser to Trump, acknowledged the backlash but remained firm in his stance.

"I'm taking a lot of flak and getting a lot of death threats, by the way. I can, like, stack them up," he told Cabinet members, as reported by The Times.

"But if we don’t do this, America will go bankrupt, that’s why it has to be done. And I’m confident at this point ... that we can actually find a trillion dollars in savings. That would be roughly 15% of the $7 trillion budget."

Trump’s Support and White House Backing

Despite the growing discontent, President Trump stood by Musk, making light of any dissent within his administration. "Is anybody unhappy with Elon?" he asked his Cabinet.

"If you are, well, throw them out of here," he joked, drawing laughter and applause.

While acknowledging minor disagreements, Trump insisted, "For the most part, I think everyone’s not only happy, they’re thrilled."
